Why You Should blend offline marketing with online marketing

Because I work exclusively online and spend many hours every week reviewing the online footprint of local businesses, it continues to amaze me how so many businesses out there do not blend offline marketing with online marketing.

If you think about it, the internet is today part of our daily lives with all that it has to offer and therefore its hardly surprising that businesses seek to use it for advantage. Online marketing matters in this day and age and you ignore it at your peril.

However offline marketing continues to matter too and especially for a local business.

Your marketing goal should be to have the two complementing each other.

More regularly than you would believe I have come across businesses with no phone number or email on their websites.

Others with no social media details on business cards despite their social accounts being powerful.

DON’T IGNORE OFFLINE MARKETING

  • Remember plenty of people don’t use the internet much or at all
  • Many people still use and love to be given business cards.
  • Flyers still work as do signs on your shop front, billboards, and local radio advertising
  • With technology, the cost of print media has greatly reduced.
  • Local newspaper ads still work too

Offline marketing used to target local customers also builds brand awareness.

By using offline promotional methods, you won’t have to worry about getting lost in the competition because local competition will be far less prevalent that web competition.

YOU CANNOT IGNORE ONLINE MARKETING

The simple fact nowadays is that some people are attached to their phones and laptops and many have social media accounts that they actively use daily. A sizeable proportion of your existing offline customers are probably using a social platform right now.

Your website and social media accounts represent an important place to promote your business, and if you think about it you have to go where your customers or people you would like to be leads, go to regularly.

However, the reality with online marketing is that it takes time to plan and implement and do all the work.

 

EXAGGERATION & MISLEADING CLAIMS

I am also regularly dismayed by misleading offers online made to businesses making grand claims about why Platform X is the best thing since sliced bread.

Or if you don’t use Social Platform Y your business will come to an end.

Online there are too many people peddling exaggerations about their products or services.

Do due diligence and be realistic about what products or services will realistically achieve for you.

 

Blend offline marketing with online marketing and get results!

My advice to any client is to stick with whatever offline strategy works and simply complement it with your online presence. Offline marketing STILL remains important but use it alongside and with online digital strategies.

By doing this, you will strengthen your brand, do wonders for brand awareness and increase sales.

Blend Digital with Offline Media AND IF YOU do it right, customers will go from the internet to the real world and back, keeping clients connected to your brand regularly.

Be Consistent and Prepared:

  • make sure that your business’ address and contact info and phone number are correct online on all platforms.
  • always include your web and social media details on your offline business cards, flyers or ads of any kind, because people like to research.
  • When promoting sales-promotions or events-market offline and online and do not leave the online promotion to the last minute.
  • Consider social video use online to stand out from the crowd and get noticed.
  • Seasonal promotion plans should be got ready well in advance-Christmas, Easter are golden times for many businesses if you promote them right
